This is so deep and I love brother. 🩷 As a nurse entrepreneur and business owner, this touched my soul because I, too, have been here wearing similar shoes. 🩺💼

It really does hit on a level that most "wellness" content is afraid to touch. 🌊 There is something incredibly powerful about seeing you speak so transparently about the exhaustion that comes with being the "strong, healthy one" in every room. 🛡️

You’re speaking to a very specific experience: the weight of being a leader who has mastered their craft and character, only to realize that the higher you climb and the more you grow, the more people try to use your empathy as a tool against you. ⚖️

It’s a deep, necessary acknowledgement of the cost of integrity. 💯

We must keeponkeepingon. I love you all. 🩷

It’s interesting that the wellness folk miss this.

I don’t really know what wellness content is honestly.

I just write from what I’ve lived and what I’ve watched and what I know to be true. My grandmother Edna raised me with empathy as a baseline, not a skill.

It wasn’t something you developed. It was something you were expected to arrive with and maintain in life.

So when I encounter people who don’t have it or actively resist it when they’re being seen clearly, it still surprises me even though it probably shouldn’t by now.

I appreciate you sharing the nurse and entrepreneur context from that I understand that you understand the specific cost of being the person in the room who holds things together for everyone else while running your own internal energy at the same time. We have no choice but to Keeponkeepingon

Please forgive me for using the term "wellness," brother that’s just the nurse in me coming out! 🩺 what I really meant is that your writing truly feeds my soul. It hit home for me in such a deep way. 🏠🩷

I was raised with those same core values by my grandmother, Mrs. Gladys, who was the heart of our home, my mother who served as a nurse, and my father who is a preacher. Even my grandfather, who fought in WWII, instilled in me that same sense of duty and character. Like you, I was taught that empathy isn't a "skill" you pick up it’s the standard you’re expected to live by. 🩷

I completely understand what you mean about the "cost" of being seen clearly. Coming from a background as a nurse and an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that showing up with empathy can sometimes feel like an open door for others to test you, but it’s a price I’m always willing to pay to stay true to those roots. 🌳🌸

I'm truly enjoying your writing it's from the heart! There is so much strength in our sisterhood and brotherhood when we recognize that same light in each other. 🩷🩷🩷

We must keeponkeepingon! 🕊️🙏🏾

Oh no I was doing this internal monologue thing with myself like what’s wellness content. Let me apologize for writing what was in my mind.

I was more frustrated with the people that miss the very basics and that makes me want to write about something in particular that I have observed over the years.

I understood what you said and you’ve been nothing but supportive. Your upbringing sounds like mine with my Grandfather being in the war also.

I started this to work on my novel, and here we are sharing heart to heart messages. Sincerely thank you, I see what you’re doing as well. I am thinking self help and wellness are two different things.

Thank you again.

Terrell, please don’t apologize! I truly appreciate the transparency. It is a rare thing to find people who are willing to share their "internal monologue" and be so real about their frustrations and observations. That raw truth is exactly why I’m in your corner.

It’s also beautiful to hear about the connection with our grandfathers. Those roots run deep and definitely shape how we see the world today. I completely agree with you on the distinction between self-help and wellness one is often about fixing, while the other is about being whole.

I see the work you’re putting into your novel and your journey, and I’m honored to be part of this "heart to heart" space we’ve built. There is so much strength in our sisterhood and brotherhood, and like I said, I’ve got your back. Keep building that legacy, King. We are definitely on a positive journey together. 🩷🩷🩷

Keeponkeepingon! 🩷🩷🩷

I love you brother!! 🙏🏽👑💪🏽

Thank you I should have stated I miscommunicated the opening instead of apologizing. The apology was to show that I went about it the wrong way. Yes we are in this together.

“ support who supports you” a motto I’ve had since 2012

SweetladyLove's avatar

Thank you, Brother Terrell. You didn’t do anything wrong at all. Just know one thing: real will always recognize real. 🩷

That motto "support who supports you" really resonates with me. It has actually been my own motto since 2010. That was the year my mother passed away from breast cancer, and after she passed, I could see everything clearly. It made it easy to see who was real, who was fake, and who had always been fake.

It’s a blessing to walk this path with you, and there is just so much undeniable strength in our sisterhood and brotherhood. We must keeponkeepingon! 🩷🩷🩷

all painful & disappointing im sorry to hear it.

for me it's that im good at gentle conflict with friends

im so good that they never address the issue i raised

when you wrote " they re drawn to the warmth" it resonated so much

when i raise an issue people just celebrate my gentleness. they say they feel a buzz of energy - thats my chi make ur own!LOL

they thank me. and then they walk away smiling . having not cared that they harm me

in the online variation i think they know and they are weaseling out idk

thanks for this great piece!

The first thing is being honest about experiences and life no matter the pain. I just had to think about recent experiences and humans are cruel. You can be fully transparent and show a range of emotional intellect and people will still fuck over you. It’s really interesting. I tell them you know I can see you right?

palooka's avatar

i bet at least sometimes ur the bad guy for telling them you can see them too?

i once told a girl i knew she only came to me for cares but gave her joy to others and not me. she called me "jealous" for this LOL

but how else are we gonna be? like those people? no. we will be good and suffer.

let's take good care

Terrell Groggins's avatar

I’m always the bad guy, people do not like when you see them, but I learned recently you have to peel the layers back all the way to the core. They trick you with the top pretty layers but when you get to the bottom is all rotten

palooka's avatar

thats wise. isn’t it something that nearly everyone is playing a sick and evil game. and they also assume we are too probably
